Fun on the Fourth!

Yesterday was such a fun day! We started out bright and early, it was Liam's idea, at 4 in the morning! He didn't want to miss one minute of fun! Thankfully at 4:30 I convinced him to go back to bed and he slept until almost 6. We got up and ready for the day and headed off to the Annis Ward flag raising and breakfast. After we had our fill of pancakes, bacon, eggs and hash browns we went back home to attack our weed filled garden. It has been a little neglected, I've mostly just been weeding directly around the plants, so we had our work cut out for us. I quickly realized that I can't spend a lot of time bent over thanks to Liam's baby sister, so after about an hour and a half we decided we were sufficiently hot and tired so we called it quits for that day. We went to Grandma and Grandpa Hall's house for lunch and headed off to the Menan parade with them. As the parade approached Cole started getting excited and couldn't hold still in his chair! He claims he was trying to get Liam to dance, but I think he really just loves the Menan parade!

Liam and his cousin Jaxon (in the BYU-Idaho hat) were both a little apprehensive about the firetrucks and picking up candy, but as the parade progressed they got right in on the fun!

Liam made sure to wave at all the horses and tractors in the parade to make them feel appreciated.

When the parade was over we were sad, not that we would be getting out of the heat and going home to our cooler house, but that there had been no chocolate milk this year. Ever since I can remember the highlight of the parade has been the people running down the road handing out free chocolate milk to everyone. This year there was no chocolate milk, and as that has been my recent favorite drink for this pregnancy, I was bummed.

Our day then moved on over to Grandma and Grandpa Hegsted's house. While playing outside we decided it was really hot so Liam and Cole pulled out the swimming pool.

It wasn't long before Grandpa Tad decided that a little wading looked like fun, so he joined right in!

Liam had lots of fun teasing Dad and Grandpa by pouring water on their feet. I don't know what he enjoyed more; cooling off, playing with Dad and Grandpa or running around almost naked!

We had a BBQ with Tad, Paula, Jenna, Grandma Gloria, Krissa and lots of Krissa's friends! Notice how I have not mentioned a nap in the day's festivities. That is because Liam slept for about 30 minutes in the morning and then refused to sleep for the rest of the day. Not that he was really cranky, he just wanted to enjoy every minute of the fun day! After dinner was over this is what Liam looked like.

Grandma Paula dubbed him 'asleep with his eyes open'. He was too tired to remove the cup he had wedged under his chin. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video clip is worth a million! Here is what tired, but content, looks like.

We got him out of the chair and tried to get him to go to sleep but he suddenly found his energy and started playing again. Cole sat on the couch and watched a movie with him but he fought to keep his eyes open! It was finally time for fireworks so we loaded him in the car to head off for more fun in Menan. About a mile down the road Liam lost the battle against sleep. We got him out of the car and put his sweatshirt on, carried him through the park, and watched the bright noisy fireworks with him. He never moved a muscle. Paula took this picture of him during the fireworks.

Poor Liam. He had such a fun day and didn't want to fall asleep and miss anything, but he was just too tuckered out!

It was such a fun Independence day for us! Cole has been SUPER busy lately and so it was so nice for him to have a full day of vacation. We had a lot of fun together and are so grateful and blessed to live in this wonderful country with our many freedoms!

What a fun 4th of July. How cute that Liam was so excited, like it was Christmas morning or something. Aubriana fell asleep through the fireworks here too. Its funny to think they can sleep through such loud noise!

I hate it when they wake up early! Sounds like an awesome day! Parades are so much fun! They are great we work so hard to teach them not to play in the road and then we tell them to get the candy in the road! Love it. I am jealous it was nice and warm there. It rained the whole day here!

What a fun day! That tired video of Liam is so freaking cute!
